Jovie Galit is a Toronto-based calligrapher who started Pinya Letters 4 years ago. Her work has primarily focused on wedding, events and chalkboard calligraphy. She sees calligraphy as a tool that can wonderfully represent people’s stories and identity; so for her, the best part of being a calligrapher is having the ability to customize pieces that are reflective of people's narratives. Jovie's work has been featured in various wedding magazines including the Bridal Affair & Munaluchi Bride. She has also been contracted to share her art with Deserres, the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival and Loreal Paris. Her most recent feature is through the Huffington Post for her work with the Filipina Clothing brand, Pinay Collection. Outside of being an artist, Jovie works as a settlement professional, supporting newcomer families to navigate towards finding community and belonging.
