Repair Cafés are free gatherings that are all about repairing things together! Volunteer fixers not only help you fix your items, they also show you how to do the repairs. Repair Cafés aim to reduce the waste we send to the landfill or incineration, and to change society’s throw away mindset.
Sheridan was the first post-secondary institution in Canada to offer a Repair Café. It was launched in April 2014 as part of the Mission Zero initiative.
Repair Café is a global movement started in Amsterdam in 2009. It aims to reduce needless waste that is sent to landfill and to change society’s throwaway mindset. There are more than 1,800 repair cafes around the world. To learn more about the global initiative, please visit http://repaircafe.org/en.
